Who does what
Three roles, each with its part
dogwalking.pt brings people together and provides the tools. The walker is independent: they provide the service and answer for it. You make the decisions.
You, the owner
Chooses and decides.
- Picks the walker, the service, the days and the times.
- Fills in each dog's profile: food, routine, how they walk on the lead, vet.
- Meets the walker and hands over the keys, or drops the dog off.
- Pays the walker directly and leaves a review.
The independent walker
Walks and looks after your dog.
- Sets the services, areas, hours and prices.
- Chooses which requests to take and agrees with you how to get to know each other.
- Looks after the dog as agreed with you, and records the route by GPS.
- Sends the report and tells you straight away if anything is wrong.
The dogwalking.pt team
Vets and supports.
- Vets every walker before the profile goes live.
- Sends automatic reminders if a walk or visit is not recorded.
- Shows you the walkers who are free if yours cancels.
- Moderates reviews and steps in if something goes wrong.
dogwalking.pt charges owners nothing.

Frequently asked questions
Do the walkers work for dogwalking.pt?
No. Each walker is an independent professional who works for themselves:
- they set their services, prices, hours and areas;
- they choose which requests to take;
- they provide the service and answer for it.
dogwalking.pt puts you in touch, reviews every application before the profile goes live and provides the tools to book, message and follow every walk. The agreement and the payment are between you and the walker.
How many walks a day does my dog need?
It depends on age, size and energy. Most adult dogs need to go out at least three times a day, and a 60-minute walk in the middle of the day makes a real difference on long working days. Young and very active dogs do better with two walks; older dogs with shorter outings or home visits.
Can I book just one day?
Yes. A single walk, or regular walks on working days. Nights and boarding start at one night.
Will the walker take my dog to the vet if needed?
Agree it with the walker. In your home details you give the vet and an emergency contact. Leave the lead in sight and the vaccination booklet and your dog's registration papers to hand: we remind you two days before.
How do I hand over the keys?
At the first meeting, if the walker offers one, or however you agree. You both mark the handover and the return on the booking page, so it is on record.
What if my dog does not get on with other dogs?
Say so in your dog's profile. A solo walk is then the right choice: you can ask the walker for quieter routes and times and distance from other dogs. The report says how it went.
Can I book the same walker again?
Yes. "Book again" opens your last booking already filled in: you only pick the new dates. There is no first meeting the second time.
